Deep Breath!

February19

It’s almost been 2 months since I closed the store and I am still feeling like I haven’t caught my breath yet. I immediately jumped into work to begin repaying the debt I have and started dyeing yarn for my DogEared Dyeworks line. Thanks to Elizabeth Doherty and her amazing designing talents my yarn has been seen now on Ravelry in her pattern “Ebbtide”. The orange colored yarn is a beautiful BFL and Silk called “Tigerseye” looks so nice on Cheyenne, the helper I had working for me. She looks amazing in the photos. It’s so exciting. Elizabeth’s pattern was even #1 on Ravelry’s pattern search page.

I miss the store and the customers. I miss going to work surrounded by yarn but I do so love working with animals. Hopefully, if my yarn continues to grow in popularity I will be able to hang out more with my animals. Rocky, Bernard and Lola. That’s a dream come true.

I hope to get my feet on the ground soon and start pointing out other amazing and wonderful patterns. As well as posts more often.

Thank you for checking in and I hope you check back.

The shop has closed :(

LTYC has closed but hand dyed yarn and woven goods will still be created with LTYC as my parent company. And, of course, Bernard is always my mascot! The Etsy account is showing off my hand dyed luxury yarns and I may add a woven category there too. One of the stores carrying my hand woven goods in Truckee is Riverside Studios.

I want to take a moment to thank everyone who shopped at my store and a bigger thank you to those who became repeat customers. So many of you were sad to hear the news and some just came by to check on me and Bernard. As soon as I get my feet back on the ground I’ll post days and times here as to when and where I’ll be available to offer knitting help.

I have made some wonderful friends through this chapter of my life and for that I am so grateful.

I have always believed that when one door closes another one opens so I’m ready to open the new door and walk right through.

Thank you again!

DogEared Dyeworks is having colorful FUN!

Merino Bamboo

This lace weight yarn is beyond YUMMY! I loved how it took the color but the hand was 10 times better! I knitted this little shawlette and my hands were soooooo happy!!! The semi solids sell for $20.99 and they are a whopping 875 yards per skein!

Another up and coming yarn is a 50/50 silk and wool! The semi solid colors in the picture will soon be available! Check back for more beautiful pictures!

Sad ending to 2011

December7

As many of you know my shop is closing at the end of the year. The Wool Tree, in South Lake Tahoe is also closing at the end of this year. Truckee has lost the bead shop, the quilt shop and now the yarn shop. This economy is killing the American dream of being a business owner and the folks who run the country don’t really seem to care. That’s why I chose to close sooner than later. I just don’t see any light at the end of the tunnel, at least not yet. We’ll get there eventually but I can’t afford to wait that unknown amount of time. This is truly sad. Many of my knitters are very upset. And I’m right there with them.

Bernard is very happy being at home with Lola and Rocky. He’s getting lots of exercise an having a wonderful time with my husband who goes in and out all day long. He’s still growing and beautiful!

I will update the blog and stories about Bernard and great Ravelry patterns and show off my DogEared Dyeworks line so you can check in and see what’s new. I will miss the shop very much but know that I have made the right decision.

I hope you all have wonderful holidays!! Bernard may show up here again before Christmas!

Unfortunately, I have had to make a difficult decision and close the store. As of December 30th 2011 I’ll be closed. I opened in October 2008 when the market crashed and it’s been a struggle since I opened but I had hopes of economic recovery and a booming business. Sadly this last year business has been down by 1/3. I’m making the call before it takes a financial toll on my family. I am going to miss so many of you who have been repeat customers! I have promised to go to the local Starbucks and knit with those who need help. I will make announcements here, on Ravelry and Facebook.

Again, I’m so sorry it had to come to this and thank you to all of you who supported the store!
