Thank you everyone!

January3

The shop is closed now. Most everything left over is in my garage. LOL My husband is being a very good sport about that. I’m working on reorganizing my home and my life to get going in 2012. I find myself in tears way more than I like but I’m sure that will all pass with some time. I’m back on my loom already and very happy to be there. Riverside Studios didn’t have my handwoven things out during Christmas which I didn’t find out about until today which was another episode of tears but I guess there was a misunderstanding and they will be there shortly. There is also a very cool little Artisan Market Place in the Brickeltown section of Truckee that is also asking for my things. They are interested in my hand dyed yarns! So there may be a display of DogEared Dyeworks there very soon! (this is the area just down from Burger Me! If you haven”t tried that place, give it a shot! Amazing Burgers!)
Thank you to everyone who will miss me. I will miss you too!!!

DogEared Dyeworks is having colorful FUN!

Merino Bamboo

This lace weight yarn is beyond YUMMY! I loved how it took the color but the hand was 10 times better! I knitted this little shawlette and my hands were soooooo happy!!! The semi solids sell for $20.99 and they are a whopping 875 yards per skein!

Another up and coming yarn is a 50/50 silk and wool! The semi solid colors in the picture will soon be available! Check back for more beautiful pictures!

If your interested in buying some DogEared WoolyBamboo email me at kellyhechinger@laketahoeyarn.com

Sad ending to 2011

December7

As many of you know my shop is closing at the end of the year. The Wool Tree, in South Lake Tahoe is also closing at the end of this year. Truckee has lost the bead shop, the quilt shop and now the yarn shop. This economy is killing the American dream of being a business owner and the folks who run the country don’t really seem to care. That’s why I chose to close sooner than later. I just don’t see any light at the end of the tunnel, at least not yet. We’ll get there eventually but I can’t afford to wait that unknown amount of time. This is truly sad. Many of my knitters are very upset. And I’m right there with them.

Bernard is very happy being at home with Lola and Rocky. He’s getting lots of exercise an having a wonderful time with my husband who goes in and out all day long. He’s still growing and beautiful!

I will update the blog and stories about Bernard and great Ravelry patterns and show off my DogEared Dyeworks line so you can check in and see what’s new. I will miss the shop very much but know that I have made the right decision.

I hope you all have wonderful holidays!! Bernard may show up here again before Christmas!

Sock Obsessed???? Not me!

May9

I just counted and I have 6 pairs of socks going. Only six. Don’t look like that. It’s really not that many. Really! I had seven, just finished one. I have three that I am doing out of  handspun from three different fleeces. I have Junes sock sample for the Calendar Colorway, I have a cotton sock (super cute, easy pattern for summer) and two that are cables and lace. See it’s really not that big a deal and like I said I just finished one. The sad thing is that I will probably have all of these done in no time and then I just have to keep finding more patterns. For the most part I use KPS #216. It’s my basic go to. Love the heal, love the way it is written and I’ve probably knitted 100 pair or more! LOVE SOCKS!!!!! REALLY LOVE TO KNIT SOCKS!!!

Ahem…. Sorry about that. It got a little weird there for a minute.

I have registered for Sock Summit. I may closed for a short 3 day period so I can attend. I can’t sign up for classes because I don’t know when I’ll arrive but I’m going to the market to talk to sock yarn vendors. My business cards are going to be handed out like crazy. I want all the coolest yarn in my shop for you guys. LOVE SOCKS!!! REALLY LOVE TO KNIT  SOCKS!!!!!!!

Ahem…. sorry again. There is just something about those wonderful one skein socks that just set my heart a twitter! Oh Sock Summit is on Twitter too!!!!  Isn’t that cool. To bad I don’t twitter. I may have to start! NOW!!!

If anyone tries to do an intervention I’m gonna tie them up in sock yarn and then take my time knitting them out of the restraints!

Spinning of the lambs

April29

I thought an appropriate blog posting after all the baby lamb pictures would be to show you the end result …

This is a small sample of the Romney fleeces I bought. I actually have one more that is variegated and quite beautiful. I normally would have spun this fleece in worsted weight but I decided to try fingering weight and it really did well. And yes.. there will be socks in their future!

Really, really beautiful fleeces!
